Understanding All-on-6 Dental Implants
The All-on-6 method replaces a full arch of teeth with a fixed denture supported by six implants. The implants sit in the jaw and act like tooth roots. Bone grows around them, securing them in place and making them a part of your anatomy. Then, a permanent fixed denture is attached. Your new teeth stay in your mouth and can only be removed by a dental professional. You do not take them out at night.
All-on-6 vs. All-on-4
Both All-on-6 and All-on-4 restore a full arch of teeth with a fixed denture. The difference is the number of implants. All-on-4 uses four implants while All-on-6 uses six, which spreads bite force across more anchor points and makes the denture more stable. All-on-6 is often a better choice for patients who still have enough bone toward the back of the jaw. All-on-4 may be recommended for patients with more jawbone atrophy or a limited budget.

Patients who are good candidates for All-on-6 have:
Widespread Tooth Loss
Full-arch implants suit adults who have lost most of the teeth in an arch or whose remaining teeth are failing. If you have failing teeth that need to be extracted, we can handle that step, too.
Sufficient Bone Density
You need enough bone density to hold the six implants securely. If you’ve lost too much bone, a bone graft or sinus lift can build the site up first. You may also be a better candidate for All-on-4.
A Preference for Stability
Denture wearers who want something that does not slide around in their mouth or come out can be great candidates for implant-supported dentures.
Good Overall Health
While you may have failing teeth, you should otherwise be in good overall health. Patients should be nonsmokers and healthy enough for surgery.
